KILCOT FLYERS

This is a group for multi-sport outdoor enthusiasts. The Kilcot Flyers offer Running (on and off-road) Cycling (again on and off-road) and Swimming, indoors and out.

There will be opportunities to do hill walking, kayaking and climbing also, but some opportunities will be limited to finding specialist businesses to host the group when there are no qualified leaders.

The Kilcot Flyers are not a club, there is no paid membership and the group are not affiliated. The group is self-financing.

The group has a president, but no committee. It relies on Route Captains to organise and lead each activity.

“We welcome all abilities. We welcome members of running clubs who may want to take part in the non-running activities with us, or would just like to run in different places.”

The sign of a good run!

All sessions include their famous warm-up games, the main section based around a termly theme or idea (find more information about these on their Term Dates & Themes page!) and also includes a short snack break so members can build on their friendships too.

Juniors – Marvellous Musical Maddie – Half Term Workshops 2021

TUESDAY’S THREE DIFFERENT CLASSES…

JUNIORS

Juniors – 4:15pm – 5:30pm (Ages 5 – 8, Reception Class to End of Year Three)
For the youngest members, classes include drama games, songs and rhymes as well as focusing on drama and performance skills through whole group exercises, small group play making and exploration through movement, music and text. Often working on a given theme, the Juniors are able to learn to work together and widen their skill sets as mini Junior performers.

SENIORS

Seniors – 5:45pm – 7:00pm (Ages 9 – 11, Year Four to End of Year Six)
Seniors work on current ideas and themes to create and explore drama. Using popular drama games and warm up tasks as well as looking at theatre devising as a whole group or in smaller groups. Some scripted texts are used too, focusing on building confidence and leadership skills while making friends in a relaxed theatre environment.

SENIORS PLUS

Seniors Plus – 7:30pm – 9pm  (Ages 11 – 18, Year Seven upwards)
A social environment is encourged through lots of fun for the older members, this includes energetic games and tasks which encourage leadership, the sharing of great ideas and building friendships. Looking at current issues and topics, a contemporary approach is used, encouraging the young members to collaborate and create and explore new, exciting work.

Tuesday sessions cost just £5 per class, payable in termly instalments.

Cinderford & District Swimming Club is a thriving competitive swimming club. Since its formation in 1977, great strides have been made to bring the club to the position it occupies today and we are constantly looking for ways to improve even further.

Comprising of over 100 swimmers, the Club competes at levels from local to regional standard; training sessions are held four nights a week at Freedom Leisure, Causeway Road, Cinderford, Gloucestershire. Across the groups there are graded ability sessions for swimmers and all swimmers are given the opportunity to progress through the club to achieve their maximum potential.

The Club is run by a voluntary group of dedicated parents and others interested in the improvement of swimming in all aspects of the club, from the management committee to the teachers/coaches.

Our aim is to ensure that swimmers enjoy, learn and develop good stroke techniques and improve speed. Their self-confidence and esteem will be enhanced and they will meet many friends of differing ages.

COMMUNITY LINKS

The club is an important social hub for the local community. The junior section has been very successful and this has resulted in families attending matches and training nights. The pavilion is available to hire at low rates and is used by the Church Committee, a Shooting Club, a Crib Club and private parties.

The club was due to hold its first wedding on its ground in 2020. Holding the biggest event in the village calendar, The Dymock Festival, as well as several running events including the Dymock Half Marathon and the Poet Potter Weekend. A bonfire night for the village in November with fireworks, food and an open bar. They also link with the Church to run the Christmas Disco with proceeds going to the Church Roof Fund.

Friday night is junior training night and they open their bar and run a BBQ which is well attended by many of the local community.

Dymock Cricket Club is supported by several local businesses that sponsor them by purchasing advertising boards around the ground. There are currently have 6 boards in position and are hoping to double this number by the end of 2021.

Dymock Half Marathon & 10k Race – 18th September 2021

DYMOCK HALF MARATHON – SATURDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER 2021

  • Dymock Half Marathon
  • Dymock 10k
  • Dymock Festival

I am delighted to say that, after a very difficult year for us all, Dymock Cricket Club (your club!) has rescheduled the Half Marathon, formally added a 10k run and is planning to hold a lower-key Festival, all on Saturday 18th September.

If you can offer help and support, whether it be in marshalling runners, managing car parking, pouring pints, or assisting with competitor registration, we would appreciate and enjoy the widest possible involvement (as with three events, two at the same time we will need help), and look to reward all our helpers, not just with a sense of fulfilment but with free entry to the festival, which will run in the afternoon and build to a full party atmosphere in the evening.

We will also welcome any individual and corporate sponsors for the day and should acknowledge that the marquee for the day is provided courtesy of John Gurney, trustee of the grounds and long-standing member of the club.

Please do respond with any offers of help or sponsorship to Richard Lee (richard@glyniddens.co.uk or 07989 704591), who is helping me co-ordinate the day along with a dedicated committee!

If you want to run either event, please use the following website to log your entry: www.entrycentral.com/DHM.

Details as to where and how to obtain a ticket to the exclusive evening event will follow shortly!

Kind regards, keep safe –
